The public health system is critical to all of us.
Unfortunately, the Baird Liberal Government has attacked the NSW Health system. Budget cuts worth $3 billion, contracting out, job cuts, cuts to workers’ compensation benefits and a wages policy which prevents decent pay rises for health workers, mean that a strong, fighting union is required to defend health workers.
The HSU looks after members in the public sector by campaigning against the budget cuts, taking legal action to expand access to award entitlements, resolving disputes, opposing bullying in the workplace and negotiating to change management practices to benefit members.
Usually, this is achieved collectively by members joining together for their common interest. Check out the campaigns section of this website to see how your union is working for you.
