79% of ADHSU vaccination survey respondents want a booster for 1A workers

Well done to the 950+ members for responding to last week’s ADHSU survey on vaccines. If you haven’t responded yet and you want your voice heard, please respond here.

We are still analysing the results of most of the questions. However, one that should be announced early is that 79% of all respondents, including 1B and below workers, believe those members who are category 1A should receive a booster.

As you can see above, a strong majority of members believe the booster should be available as soon as it’s clinically recommended, even if that slows the vaccine roll out for those in the community who have not had the opportunity to receive a jab yet.

That result is understandable and defendable. At the moment the only thing standing between many front-line paramedics and COVID is PPE (which we know can fail) and a strong vaccination status.

ADHSU representatives will push for boosters to be rolled out to all category 1A health workers as soon as medical authorities suggest is the optimum time for a booster (having regard for overseas experience in jurisdictions such as Israel).
