Aged Care Members File Historic Work Value Case

Today I joined aged care delegates and members at Parliament House where we announced that we have filed a work value case in the Fair Work Commission.

You endorsed this plan in your workplaces and today we acted. This is a historic day for aged care professionals everywhere.

Our application is seeking to increase the rates of pay for all aged care workers covered by the Aged Care Award by 25% – this is the next step in our fight for 25. You can read more about the work value case here

Today, we met with politicians from all over the country to tell them about our Fight For 25 and they listened to your stories.

We stood together and said enough is enough – now is our time. We took this campaign to the next level.

For too long, aged care has been overlooked and undervalued, and I know you’ve had enough. I can’t tell you how proud I am of your hard work through this pandemic and on top of that, everything that you have done in this campaign so far.

Whether it’s signing a petition, wearing a pink shirt, or joining a campaign meeting – I am proud of your energy and enthusiasm. Thank you for fighting so hard.

Today we have shown that when we stand together like this, we are unstoppable.

We have to continue to lobby politicians and share our stories. If you or one of your colleagues would like to get involved, send an email to [E-Mail not displayed].

If you know someone who should be part of our fight for fair wages in aged care, but isn’t an HSU member, send them this newsletter. Now is the time to join, to stand together and demand better for all aged care workers. New members can join at or by calling 1300 478 679.
