BREAKING: HSU takes Anglicare to Fair Work Commission about your contracts

This afternoon the Health Services Union has lodged a dispute in the Fair Work Commission about Anglicare’s handling of roster changes and restructures.

HSU members from across the organisation have reported feeling distressed and being ill-informed about their rights as Anglicare has rolled out these changes.

Anglicare is required to undertake proper and meaningful consultation about these changes, and to provide you with clear and accurate information about your rights.

The HSU is calling on Anglicare to:

  • withdraw all letters which imply that changes to your contract will occur without your consent
  • issue new letters with the facts and engage in proper consultation
  • pay workers who have had their contracted hours cut until such time as proper consultation takes place

We now will wait for the Fair Work Commission to set a date and will report to members.

If you or your colleagues have been pressured to sign a new contract or have any questions about the process, email agedcare@hsu.asn.au.

Finally, I know this has been a very stressful time for many, which has only been made worse by management’s approach. I hope that in taking this to the Fair Work Commission we can get a better outcome for members.
