CHW Pathology: Urgent Members' Meeting

You may have heard about the recent joint venture between SCHN and NSW Health Pathology to develop a ‘Statewide Paediatric Pathology Network’. The HSU has been in consultation with the Steering Committee as well as representatives from SCHN and NSW Health Pathology about what this means for our members. So far, the responses we’ve received are lacking in detail.

Here is what we have been told:

  • The Steering Committee for this project does not include any representatives who work in a laboratory
  • Both SCHN and NSW Health Pathology are refusing to rule out a takeover by NSW Health Pathology
  • Representatives from both organisations are at pains to say that ‘all options are on the table’ when it comes to this statewide service

Some members already believe this is another attempt by NSW Health Pathology to take over the CHW Laboratory. There are strong concerns about this, particularly as NSW Health Pathology is currently applying to change the Awards to cut pathology members’ pay during a cost-of-living crisis.

All CHW Pathology members are urged to attend a mass meeting about this issue to guide the Union’s next steps:

Date: Monday 28 November
Time: 12pm
Location: Lorimer Dodds Lecture Theatre

The HSU Industrial Team will also be in attendance and will provide members with an update on the Hospital Scientists Award case.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
