CHW Workload & Staffing Survey - Final chance to have your say!

Over the past few weeks, your Union has been surveying members throughout Children’s Hospital Westmead about staffing levels, workloads, and difficulties in getting approval to fill vacant roles.

We are now aware Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network have created an Executive Approval Committee for all recruitment requests, making it even more difficult and bureaucratic to fill jobs and ease workloads.

Staffing concerns in Administration are exacerbated by the fact there is no relief or casual pool. In some cases, members have been told to take leave because they have excessive leave balances – but advised their workloads will either not be covered, or their colleagues will need pick up the extra work.

CHW and SCHN management must stop taking advantage of health workers and start investing in staff by immediately approving recruitment to vacant roles and easing unmanageable workloads.

If you have not yet had an opportunity to complete our survey, we encourage you to do so now: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/chw-staffing-2021
