Free on-street parking for HSU members

Following the HSU’s successful representations to the NSW Government to reinstate free parking at hospitals, we have also been in contact with Mayors of Councils in the Sydney metropolitan area to request untimed/unmetered parking for health workers in the streets surrounding hospitals.

Last year, a number of Councils were supportive of HSU members in providing free parking. I am pleased to say that the following Councils have again agreed to reinstate free parking in the streets surrounding public hospitals:

  • City of Sydney Council
  • Canterbury Bankstown Council
  • Canada Bay Council – Lovedale Place free parking
  • Campbelltown Council
  • Liverpool Council
  • Blacktown Council
  • Waverley Council
  • Penrith City Council
  • Hornsby Shire Council
  • Ryde Council

These Councils deserve to be commended for recognising the immensely important work you are doing.

If you work in any of the above Council areas and have any issues with parking, please contact your local Organiser. As always, please remember that fines will be issued for blocking driveways or other unsafe parking in those areas.

Remember, standing together as a Union brought us to this point. If you have any colleagues who haven’t yet joined the HSU, encourage them to take the plunge today. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
