The NSW Government has ‘offered’ a 1.5% pay rise this year. However, in an act of theft, they are not going to absorb the upcoming 0.5% increase to super that all workers across the country should see later this year. That means this year’s actual wage offer is a ridiculous 1.04%. This offer is conditional on HSU members ‘consenting’ to the offer (that is, no campaigning) and there must be a legally enforceable no extra claims clause (meaning no extra monetary award changes can be made).
This comes on top of the Government offering 0% last year, which we all know ended with the commission awarding a 0.3% ‘pay rise’ for health workers.
Workers in PTS and Make Ready were frontline during the fires and pandemic and simply got on with the job. They held the line for their patients and the wider community with integrity and no small effort.
We know many large Australian businesses and executives have grown richer throughout the pandemic. This is thanks to the amazing work of PTOs and the whole health workforce, whose work has helped keep the virus out of the community.
Yet the only thanks members have received is a pay freeze last year and an insulting offer this year.
You deserve to be fairly compensated for your hard work. It’s time to stand up and fight. It’s time to make the fight public.
