HSU walks out on Executive Threats

Yesterday, HSU representatives met senior executives to discuss a dispute involving the temporary transfer of sterilising services from Wyong to Gosford while facilities are improved.

This meeting was requested by the LHD during proceedings before the Industrial Relations Commission – the proposal being that a meeting with CCLHD Chief Executive Dr Andrew Montague would be arranged.

We put our case as to why it was fair and in the interest of all parties to resolve the dispute in a way that provided just compensation to members who will be required to travel.

In response, management made wild threats about avoiding the duty to pay employees by creating a contrived restructure. This is disgraceful behaviour.

Members do not need to be afraid of this kind of desperate attack on their rights. We will fight back and fight back all the harder.

Dr Montague remained silent during this meeting, apparently content to hide behind the threats of his executives. He has the opportunity to withdraw the threat. We, however, are no longer prepared to compromise.

We are back before the IRC on Tuesday, where we will seek orders preventing Dr Montague and his team from victimising our members.
