Introducing Josie Peacock, your new HSU Organiser in the Aged Care sector

I would like to introduce Josie Peacock, your new HSU Organiser in the Aged Care sector.

Josie has come into the role to fill the vacancy of HSU Organiser Anita Bhattarai, who is currently on parental leave. Josie has worked in the aged care sector for 30 years, in the early days as a personal carer (both in the community and in residential care) and then as a Recreational Activities Officer. After completing her Bachelor of Health Science (Leisure and Health) she took on a role as a Diversional Therapist managing a team of RAOs and many volunteers. Most recently, she has been working as a Volunteer Coordinator in residential care and in the community sector. Josie has been a union member for 20 years. For the past 18 years she has been on the HSU Aged Care Committee and for the past 6 years she has held a position on Union Council.

It’s terrific to have Josie on board. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to represent members across the sector, to improve conditions in your workplace, and to increase recognition for the important work that you do.

The current situation in metro Sydney makes workplace visits challenging. In the meantime, if you want to say hi to Josie or have any questions, please contact [E-Mail not displayed]

Finally, I want to acknowledge the work you and your colleagues are doing in some very challenging environments, with lockdowns, restrictions, and 3-day testing requirements. If you need any support or advice please contact Josie or HSU Member Services on 1300 478 679.
