Port Macquarie Base Hospital Expansion

  • Published February 8, 2021

HSU members are disappointed that MNCLHD has decided to open an expanded Ward 1B and utilise Ward 2C for surge bed capacity, without genuine consultation with the PMBH workforce.

As you know, in late 2020 management opened Ward 1B as a surge unit without adequately consulting staff.

Now, once again, management are attempting to expand hospital services without consulting PMBH staff on resourcing for patient support services, allied health, food services, administrative services, surgical and sterilising services or physical resources.

HSU members have called on management to provide information and documentation about how already stretched members are expected to care for more patients in this proposed expansion.

Once the HSU has received the correspondence, an extraordinary members’ meeting will be called to discuss our position.

In Unity,

Gerard Hayes

Secretary HSU NSW/ACT/QLD
