A delegation from the HSU met yesterday with Minister for Health Brad Hazzard and senior executive members of the Ministry of Health to discuss ongoing issues around ensuring safety and security in NSW Hospitals.
During these discussions, it was acknowledged that the Anderson Final Report had been completed. However, some of the legislative framework required around the recommendations could prove difficult and needs further work, to which the HSU has been invited to contribute.
Once the legislative hurdles have been overcome, it has been suggested that a site in the metropolitan area be selected to trial a combination of initiatives that range from Code Black Team responses, training and proactive security. Please see a document at this link relating to this strategy.
Today senior staff from the HSU and a number of delegates came together to formulate the HSU response in relation to the proposed legislative framework and trial.
Members will be regularly updated with information as it comes to hand.
