Over the past month, HSU delegates and representatives have continued to attend walkthroughs of the new Westmead Precinct building and hold regular meetings with Westmead management to raise members’ concerns.
So far, members have raised over 35 issues across many different areas of our membership. All these need to be worked through and resolved prior to the opening of ED, currently slated for 17th February 2021.
These issues have all been captured in an issues log, which will be continually be updated as matters are resolved or responded to.
So far it appears we have made some headway in increasing the proposed number of FTE within Security and Environmental Services, but there is still some way to go before a final outcome can be announced. Rest assured that your delegates and representatives will continue negotiating in members’ best interests.
We also understand staff and members have now commenced tours or walkthroughs to begin orienting themselves with the new building – a measure which the Union called for to begin as soon as possible.
Members are encouraged to continue raising any concerns or feedback with their delegates or local organiser Brendan Roberts for these to be added to the action log.
With so much change and uncertainty at Westmead, it is now more important than ever to make sure you and your colleagues are protected in the workplace by being part of the Union. If any of your colleagues are currently not protected by Union membership, please encourage them to join the union here or over the phone 1300 478 679.
