Your HSU representatives have continued to represent members’ concerns to Westmead Hospital management regarding the upcoming opening for the new Central Acute Services Building – currently expected on February 17th 2021.
While there are still many issues to resolve prior to the opening – especially around staffing levels and recruitment – we have been able to resolve members’ concerns around Environmental Services rosters.
One sure-fire way to upset members is to make changes to their rosters without consultation. Members were concerned they would be forced to go on to rotating rosters, change their shifts or days off, or even be forced to change areas.
We can now confirm the General Manager and Corporate Services Manager have agreed there will be no change to existing staff members’ rosters after the opening of the CASB. Click here to view the memo sent to Environmental Services staff.
This is a good outcome for members. Your delegates have done a great job representing members’ concerns and they should be congratulated. We also need to acknowledge the General Manager and Corporate Services Manager for listening to members’ concerns and providing some degree of stability and certainty as they move into the new building.
This is not the end, but it is a good step in the right direction. If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the CASB, you are encouraged to keep raising them with your delegates or your Organiser.
During this process, it is important to ensure we are united. If you know people who are not in the Union, now is the time to encourage them to join and be involved.
