Your voice makes a difference – HSU submission to Government Inquiry

I want to acknowledge HSU members who shared your expertise in the recent HSU survey on improving access to early childhood health and development checks. Your firsthand insights revealed a system under significant strain and the real impact on the children in your care.

Staff shortages, inadequate wages, and high turnover lead to unacceptable outcomes and risks for children. The Government needed to hear this – and because of you, they did.

On Monday November 18, SCHN members Tessa and Jennie represented HSU members at the public hearing as part of the NSW Parliament inquiry, ensuring Members of Parliament understood the reality of a system at breaking point.

You can read the HSU’s submission to the inquiry here.

The inquiry is expected to deliver its recommendations early next year. Whatever the outcome, HSU members will keep pushing to ensure real change happens.

Your voice matters. Together we’ll keep up the pressure for a safer, fairer system, and secure a better future for our children’s health services.
