Stop the Cuts in NSLHD

IMG 4150

Northern Sydney Local Health District is planning to save millions of dollars – by slashing funding for allied health and administration staff at public hospitals that are already overstretched. NSLHD says it's moving to an 'affordable staffing' model.

These massive cuts, proposed without warning or consultation, show a budgets-before-patients approach which will harm the community.

Allied health workers get people out of hospital and keep them out, saving the health system enormous amounts each year and improving quality of life for their patients. Meanwhile, administration literally keeps the hospital ticking over.

Send NSLHD and the NSW Health Minister a message - austerity and health don't mix.

To: NSW Minister for Health the Hon. Ryan Park MP

Dear Minister Park,

I am writing to you to express my strong opposition to health staffing cuts being proposed in Northern Sydney Local Health District.

Our community relies upon health services that are already severely overstretched. To suggest that allied health and administration staff can be cut still further without profound adverse effects on patients is disingenuous and insulting.

If these cuts are allowed to proceed, it will mean two things:

  1. the remaining allied health and administration staff will be placed under unendurable strain; and
  2. health services to the Northern Sydney community will suffer.

The NSW Labor Government was elected on a platform of improving health services, not eroding them. Please stop these unwarranted cuts.
