End the waste: HSU delegates give testimony to Special Commission of Inquiry

HSU delegates gave testimony to the Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding for the first time today, sharing their on-the-ground experience of wasteful spending, over-servicing and outright rorts occurring across NSW Health.

HSU members have been successful in campaigning for this long overdue review into NSW Health.

There has not been a meaningful review of healthcare in NSW since 1929. We know that much of Health’s $33 billion budget is going to the wrong places or is squandered.

Feedback from members formed the basis of the HSU’s recent submission, calling for a health system that works for all – not just the wealthy.

Today, HSU members spoke directly with the Commission, detailing the issues they see every day.

Congratulations to members for demanding answers and well done to those delegates who have stepped up to provide testimony.

Members will continue to receive updates about the Special Commission of Inquiry as the hearings progress.
