The New South Wales government has reached an agreement with the Health Services Union, bringing an end to the long-running stand-off between the two.

The deal with see almost 5,000 paramedics receive an average wage increase of 25 per cent over four years.

The wage increase will range from 11 per cent to 29 per cent across the sector. The agreement will also see major salary structure changes for the state’s paramedics.

Almost 2,000 of NSW’s 6,000 paramedics had threatened to withhold their professional registrations amid the stalling pay negotiations, meaning they could not legally attend triple zero calls from January 1 if they failed to apply for renewal.
