ACL Safety Update

Safety is union business, and everyone has the right to a safe workplace.

HSU members reported that ACL has distributed an updated ‘Courier Operational Procedure’ without first consulting with couriers. This procedure has now been rescinded and will be subjected to further consultation with Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and the collective courier workforce.

This shows what union members can achieve when we stand together.

HSRs also exercised their legal rights and conducted a safety inspection of ACL vehicles yesterday Thursday 26 October.

It was found that your employer was failing in providing a safe workplace for couriers to undertake the transportation of specimen collections between the main hubs and collection centres.

What’s next?

ACL management have agreed to an action plan ensuring that all vehicles are appropriately provided with all safety items outlined in accordance with the ACL ‘Courier Operational Procedure’ by commencement of shift Tuesday 31 October.

Your safety is vital. ACL management must provide a safe workplace for all employees.  Union members will hold them to account.
