An attack on our union cannot stand

Today, HSU members across several departments at Westmead Hospital implemented a series of work bans as a response to sustained attacks against HSU members and attempts to interfere in union meetings.

There can only be one purpose behind these attacks – to silence the voice of HSU members and destroy their collective influence to improve their working lives.

At a time when the HSU Westmead Hospital General Sub Branch started to see some positive movement on issues raised by members, management of Corporate Services decide to devote their energies to attacking HSU members over their right to be collectively heard. Their time would be better spent addressing real problems, like the massive waste of taxpayers’ money being spent on contractors rather than directly employing NSW Health workers. What are their priorities?

HSU members supporting these bans at Westmead Hospital call on all HSU members across WSLHD to stand in solidarity with them. An attack on any union member for upholding their rights is an attack on all union members. If we allow it now, where will it end?
