Australian Clinical Labs: Are you being paid for training?

Members have reported that ACL is requiring staff to complete several online training modules and expecting them to make time during an already busy shift.

Members also report they have been told they can complete their training in their own time without being paid, including in your unpaid meal break time.

Training is important. However, your employer must ensure there is time for it to be completed during your rostered shift and not done in your own time.

What’s next?

  1. If you have not yet completed this training, you should speak with your manager and ask them to ensure you are allocated enough time during your shift to complete it.
  2. If your manager refuses and suggests you should make your own arrangements, contact your delegate or Organiser immediately.
  3. If you have already completed training in your own time, contact your delegate or Organiser to discuss your options further – email [E-Mail not displayed] or call 0425 181 361

The message is simple: training is work and must be paid.
