Canberra Hospital Wardspersons: HSU members force management to consult

In late January CHS sent out a notice to Canberra Hospital Wardspersons that they were no longer allowed to transfer patients through the main foyer. This change was made without consultation with HSU members and without consideration of their working patterns.

HSU members stood together and told management this was not acceptable. CHS has since acknowledged that consultation should have occurred and did not. As a result Wardspersons can now continue to take patients through the main foyer.

Members should be congratulated for standing strong and demanding their rights. However, the battle isn’t over. CHS has advised that it still wishes to implement this change in the future and will be undertaking consultation with members. If you and any of your HSU colleagues wish to be involved and represent your fellow members, please contact your Organiser at [E-Mail not displayed].

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
