CCLHD: IMPORTANT MEETING about Sterilization Services rostering

Dear Member,

Despite the HSU members’ attempts to work with management, CCLHD has communicated confusing and misleading information to workers around roster changes. Come to an important meeting next month, on Thursday, May 9, to ensure transparency during these negotiations.

HSU members at Gosford Hospital’s Sterilization Services Department first raised issues around understaffing and unsafe workloads in 2023. Since then, members have tried to push management to make the SSD a safer place to work. Workers should not be expected to do the work of more than one person, nor should they be in fear of speaking up about it – unfortunately that remains the case at Gosford Hospital.

In November 2023 HSU Members and CCLHD met at the Industrial Relations Commission and conciliation agreements were made between both parties.

You can see here confirmation from CCLHD HR HERE.

A further meeting was held on Thursday, 4 April to review the data and agree on outcomes. During this meeting, CCLHD managed to claim a roster review may be necessary. Your HSU representatives requested a report back at the next meeting.

However, since then false or misleading information about this meeting regarding changes in rosters has potentially been communicated to SSD staff.

To be clear, at no time during this process did your HSU representatives request or suggest implementing roster changes. If SSD Management believes roster changes are required, it should commence consultation with all affected workers.

To ensure transparency and clear messaging HSU members in the SSD are invited to a meeting with management:

  • Thursday, 9 May.
  • 930-1030am.
  • Level 5 Meeting room 1.

If you would like to attend the next meeting, please email your CCLHD organiser Kerry Colling [E-Mail not displayed]

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
