CCLHD Vacant Positions

The HSU has become aware of a management practise of deliberately not filling vacant positions within CCLHD and subsequently notifying the HSU of a restructure in which those vacant positions are then deleted. This is not an isolated issue and could have a significant impact across the district.

We are disappointed with this disingenuous approach to the consultative process, which substantially damages a harmonious industrial relations environment. It is even more disappointing that management are choosing to delete positions after the NSW Government recognised the enormous strain on the NSW Health system by announcing an additional 10,000 positions throughout the state.

On Tuesday 2 August, the HSU met with the Chief Executive and Director of Workforce for CCLHD to discuss these issues. While a commitment was given to consult on the classifications from new funding, no such commitment was forthcoming to cease the practise of holding positions vacant.

As such, the HSU is directing members not to perform any duties or tasks that would normally be performed by a position that is currently vacant.

HSU members have endured nearly three years of unprecedented workloads. Now the thoughts, prayers and best wishes need to be replaced with a management action plan with sufficient resources to deliver the appropriate health services needed for the Central Coast area.
