Children's Hospital Westmead: Opening of Central Acute Services Building

The HSU has received correspondence from SCHN management regarding the opening of the new Emergency Department at Children’s Hospital Westmead – due to take place on 9 March 2021. You can view the correspondence and associated documentation below:

Your Union representatives are concerned about the limited consultation that has taken place over this significant workplace change. At the SCHN Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) meeting held this week, management claimed a number of user groups have already had input into the design and resourcing of the new space. However, it would appear at this stage that these user groups are primarily senior medical staff and management.

HSU members are dedicated professionals, and the prospect of a new and sophisticated hospital building is an exciting one. However, it is vital that genuine consultation takes place with health workers and representatives – your Union – in order to make sure the new space is properly staffed and resourced.

If you are approached by management to give feedback, or if you are concerned about any other aspect of the new building, please contact your HSU Organiser via email [E-Mail not displayed] or mobile 0458 301 076
