HSU Win: Dental Registrars to be paid their full hours of work in SLHD and WSLHD

Dental Registrars at Sydney Dental Hospital and Westmead knew they were being underpaid. They were being paid for 19 hours a week but have been consistently working at least 32 hours. This amounted to years of substantial underpayments. The unique situation of  Registrars, who require the LHDs to finish their degrees and become qualified dentists, was being exploited.

Promises were made by management when confronted, but ultimately nothing was done until HSU members came together and organised. By getting all Registrars on board and staying united, Registrars have now forced management at Sydney Dental to issue new contracts for 32 hours a week.

This is a huge win and constitutes a substantial pay increase, but it is only what HSU members deserve.

HSU members are now waiting for a similar commitment from Westmead. They will also be pursuing backpay for years of underpayment.

If you think you are being unpaid or misclassified, contact your HSU organiser Andrei Bilic on 0417 134 715 or [E-Mail not displayed].
