HSU Win: NSW Health Pathology abandons IRC action, returns to negotiating table

The HSU has filed a comprehensive and compelling case in response to NSWHP’s attempt to amend the Hospital Scientist Awards. This would not have happened without the hard work and engagement of union members and the Hospital Scientist & Technical Officer Industrial Committees.
After reading the union’s very strong case in response, NSWHP has now decided to accept our offer to return to the negotiating table.
This is a massive win for members. The constant engagement and effort of members has forced NSWHP to back down from ramming its changes to the awards through the Commission.
The hearing for February next year has now been abandoned, with negotiations likely to start at that point instead. Members and the Hospital Scientist and Technical Officer Industrial Committees will play critical roles.
By continuing our action, HSU members can stop NSWHP from undermining hard-earned rights. Members can achieve modernised and improved awards for both Hospital Scientists and Technical Officers – keep an eye out for further opportunities to be part of this movement.
The stronger we are, the more we win. It’s time for every TO and SO to become a part of their union. If you have colleagues who haven’t joined yet, talk to them today.
