Hunter Imaging fails to respond to our claims! What’s next?

At today’s bargaining meeting, Hunter Imaging Group (HIG) stated they were not ready to respond to any of the claims we presented to them in December. This happened after they already postponed a bargaining meeting two weeks ago!

HSU members have expressed concerns that HIG may delay providing full responses to our claims as a tactic putting them in a better bargaining position. Today’s meeting seems to verify this suspicion.

It’s become clear that in order to bring HIG to the table proper, we will have to ramp up our union activity! That means:

  • Convincing our colleagues to join their Union before it’s too late.
  • Educating colleagues about enterprise bargaining and the importance of workers’ collective power to get what we want.
  • Brainstorming with fellow members what sorts of actions we can organise – in the medium term and long term – to secure a fairer agreement.

Over the next fortnight, members of the HSU Bargaining Committee will hold 1-1 conversations with fellow members about the steps we can take to ensure that Hunter Imaging takes our claims more seriously. Based on members’ input, we’ll then launch a new survey asking: what are we prepared to do to win?
