Medical Radiations Scientists Statewide Meeting

Meetings this Wednesday 16 August – Register below

Since May, the HSU has been engaged in negotiations with the Ministry of Health about the inconsistent grading of MRS graduates. The HSU has conveyed the unanimous position that graduates with a four-year degree, working unsupervised and with full registration with AHPRA, should be employed at level 2.

This issue cannot wait any longer. It’s causing significant attraction and retention issues getting graduates into NSW Health and causing harm to graduates who are inconsistently graded. Far too many staff have left our departments due to this issue.

The Ministry have expressed that because of HSU MRS Delegates’ advocacy and acknowledging the urgency of the issue, they are willing to develop a determination in consultation with the HSU which would amend the classification of those who had entered the workforce at level 1. They have also expressed that they are strongly opposed to backpay.

A mass members meeting has been called to discuss the Ministry’s current position and vote on the next steps.

During this meeting, you will hear from HSU MRS Delegates who’ve attended the negotiations and be asked to provide your views on how we proceed.

The mass members meetings will be held on Wednesday 16 August 2023 at 12pm and 6pm. Meetings are open to members only as we will be conducting a formal vote.
