Newcastle Line PPE Concerns

Members at Newcastle Linen have raised concerns with your Sub Branch about the continued use of mask, goggles and face shields when handling the clean linen. Members are particularly concerned around rising temperatures as we move into summer. Your Sub Branch President and HSU Organiser subsequently met with management to discuss these concerns.

The HSU has written to the Acting Associate Director for Linen to highlight members’ concerns. We have also pointed out that the NSW Government has reviewed its PPE requirements in some health environments since moving from a Red Alert to an Amber Alert, and that should include Newcastle Linen Service.

In response, HealthShare is reviewing the advice against the current Public Health Order and will provide some detailed advice early next week. You can view their response at this link.
