The recent newsletter on the subject of P1Ts on call highlighted recent failures in NSWA’s safe system of work, including putting a P1T on call on their first day on the job.

NSWA is currently investigating the failures with a view to improving the controls to the risk of trainees on call (including being sent single to jobs).

ADHSU delegates have attended a range of meetings with NSWA seeking either an interim moratorium on trainees on call, or a return to solid controls that will make it impossible for trainees to response single – until the investigation is complete.

Despite its recent failures, NSWA has refused to make any changes whatsoever to how it places trainees on call – and is happy to wait for its own investigation process to be finalised. Well, if the employer doesn’t put safety first, then it’s up to unionised workers to take matters into their own hands and protect each other.

ADHSU delegates have called a stop work zoom meeting on the subject of P1Ts on call from 0700-0800 tomorrow morning. All off-duty members should attend. If on duty attend and participate unless given a 1A, 1B, 1C, 2i, or R4 – all other jobs can wait.

Members will receive an SMS message this evening with the zoom link to attend.
