SummitCare – PAID TRAINING

  • Published July 27, 2022

At recent HSU Organiser visits to Canley Vale and Smithfield, members raised concerns about not being paid for mandatory training undertaken at home.

The HSU wrote to management to raise this concern and received the following response:

“We have now conducted a full audit on the matter that you have raised and following on from this it is clear that most employees complete their training whilst on shift.

I have drafted a policy and advised the management team that if a staff member completes their training outside of work hours that they must be paid.

The process is that the staff member must produce their certificates and training transcript and then the employee will be paid for their training hours.

The Managers will also be following up with their teams to make sure this happens for both previous and future training.”

If your Manager has not followed up with you regarding this process please contact them in the first instance.  If you are a union member (at Canley Vale, Smithfield or Liverpool) and need further assistance please call 1300 478 679 or contact your local organiser, Josie Peacock via email [E-Mail not displayed].

If you work at another site and have completed required training which was unpaid, please contact your Manager. If you require further assistance and are a union member please call 1300 478 679 or your local Organiser.
