Urgent Update: Award Reform starts now – HSU delegates put Government on notice

We are at a turning point in Award Reform.

For years, HSU members in NSW Health have been struggling with awards that don’t value the essential work we do each day.

Yesterday, 80 dedicated HSU delegates attended a meeting with representatives from the NSW Government, to make it clear we demand reform.

The Government has said it will prioritise Award reform – but no firm dates have been given. This isn’t good enough. There are thousands of vacancies across health, and we continue to see workers leave.

There are changes desperately needed across hundreds of different classifications. There are core conditions that affect everyone – leave, superannuation, flexible work, regrading, the list goes on.

And we are ready for change.

Recently members were asked for their views on our award structures- do we want to maintain the current structures? Overwhelmingly members have said it’s time for change. You can see the proposed changes here.

As we prepare for negotiations all HSU members will be asked about what improvements we need to see in our core conditions, the changes we need if we are to make NSW Health a world class health system for patients and workers alike.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
