Afford Major Workplace Change

Afford management are proposing to implement a new employment model. You can view their letter at this link.

Afford has advised that the new employment model will be called the regional employment model and will affect all workers across Afford’s Community Day Programs & Supported Independent Living (SIL) group homes. They have told your HSU representatives these changes will ‘enable us to create a deployable workforce across the sites within the allocated region to meet our client outcomes’.

Along with this, Afford has said that these regions will function within a 25 minute radius of an individual’s current workplace and that staff will maintain their current place of work. Afford has committed to a flexible approach and will be taking staff’s individual circumstances into account during the ensuing consultation meetings.

As with any workplace change, you have the right to consultation. This includes the right to raise any issues or provide feedback about the change and have it reasonably considered. You also have the right to bring your Union along with you to meet with management and discuss your individual impact.

Any member who has concerns should provide feedback to your HSU Organiser Emmett Gray on 0499 919 355 or at [E-Mail not displayed].

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.

New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
