Aged Care Vaccination Rollout Update

From Monday next week, the COVID-19 vaccination program will commence across the country.

As previously reported, the Federal Government has developed its COVID Vaccine National Rollout Strategy, which places aged care residents and workers amongst the very first in the country to receive the free vaccine.

You can see the latest Federal Government’s information for aged care workers here: https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/getting-vaccinated-for-covid-19/information-for-aged-care-providers-workers-and-residents-about-covid-19-vaccines

It’s hard to believe it was just over 12 months ago that this pandemic changed our everyday lives. This rollout is the real beginning of getting back to normal, where residents have more freedom to see their families and workers can once again breathe at work without a mask.

I know there are many members who are eager to get vaccinated. Your employer will be communicating if they haven’t already about how the program will commence across your organisation.

I also know there are members who want to know more about the vaccine and the process. The best person to speak to is your local GP or health professional who have the latest information about the vaccine. And here is the latest from the Department of Health: https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/learn-about-covid-19-vaccines/how-covid-19-vaccines-are-tested-and-approved

Lastly, thank you once again for your extraordinary commitment and care throughout this pandemic. Aged care workers like yourself have kept our most vulnerable safe through a very dangerous time. Your Union will continue fighting for recognition for the valuable work you do.
