An aged care catastrophe while politicians sunbathe?

What’s happening in your workplace? You can let me know here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/agedcareJan2022

As case numbers continue to rise and the number of aged care workers forced to isolate increases, I am deeply concerned about your safety and the safety of older Australians.

I want to hear directly from you about what’s happening in your workplace. I am worried that politicians have switched off to the dire consequences opening up to COVID means to an under resourced aged care sector. You can tell me here.

I know that many aged care workers are exhausted and at breaking point. The Federal Government knew that more cases would mean more pressure on staffing, and yet absolutely nothing has been done to attract and retain aged care workers through improved wages and conditions. Absolutely nothing.

The aged care sector is in crisis.

I will be writing to the Prime Minister calling for:

1.  immediate implementation of our 25% award wage claim to attract and retain aged care workers;

2. access to COVID vaccination booster shots for aged care workers in the workplace;

3. paid isolation leave so aged care workers don’t bear the cost of opening up to COVID.

I want to include your comments so please have your say here:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/agedcareJan2022

I will also be writing to the Opposition Leader calling on his support because addressing this crisis should be above politics. I will keep you informed of any response.
