Arthur Blackburn WHS issues finally addressed

HSU members at Arthur Blackburn have been fighting for a safe workplace. Last Friday, two HSU organisers conducted a WHS inspection. Following this, management has finally moved to consult with HSU members on safety issues.

This has happened because of union members’ dedication.

We’re now waiting for management to provide a timeline regarding the ventilation in the laundry and kitchen, the replacement of the hotbox trolleys and slip hazards, including the freezer and cool room floors. This timeline will be communicated with members once it has been received.

Arthur Blackburn members are invited to a catch-up zoom meeting next Tuesday:

Date: Tuesday 10 October
Time: 11:00am

Safety is about more than just the physical environment. You can ensure that you are working in a safe manner by taking your breaks, saying no to excessive shifts, and asking for another person to assist if you need to push a heavy trolley.

If you need advice or assistance, please contact HSU Member Services on 1300 478 679.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.

New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
