Breaking: Fair Work Commission hands down Work Value Case decision - HSU members win significant pay increase

Following years of campaigning, HSU members have won an historic victory today with the Fair Work Commission awarding many aged care workers pay increases of between 7 to 28 per cent.

Direct care workers will receive between 15% – 28%. This is inclusive of a 15% pay rise awarded to workers in Stage 1 of the HSU’s Work Value Case.

Indirect care workers such as laundry hands, cleaners, and food services assistants will receive a pay increase of 6.96%. This is made up of their classification being increased from Level 2 to Level 3 in the Aged Care Award structure and a pay increase of 3%.

Other indirect care workers will receive a pay increase of 3%.

A summary of the decision is here.

HSU members will receive a detailed breakdown of the decision in the coming days, and we’ll be holding online information sessions for members next week.

This is a great outcome that comes after years of hard campaigning by thousands of HSU members around the country.

And HSU members will keep fighting, so that every worker in the aged care sector is respected and valued at work.
