Bupa Pottsville Restructure

Recently Bupa advised staff at Pottsville of upcoming workplace changes due to current low occupancy levels.

HSU members have raised concerns about the proposed changes, including the impact on rosters and potential changes to working locations.

Following discussions with management, Bupa has confirmed that changes to working locations are currently off the table and that all current contracted hours will be honoured.

However, Bupa are continuing to review the roster, which could include changes to shift patterns and how work is structured.

We have requested that Bupa provide HSU members with clear information about any proposed changes, including:

  1. Copies of the current and proposed rosters.
  2. Specific information about any reduction or increase in hours.
  3. Clear details of changes within ‘streams’ of work. For example, there may be a reduction in care hours, but an increase in leisure and lifestyle activities, which could provide redeployment opportunities.
  4. That the HSU be provided with copies of correspondence from management to staff.

Management have committed to provide staff with a draft roster which members can then review and provide feedback on.

Changes like this can be very stressful, but you’re entitled to be represented throughout this process and we can get the best outcome if we work collectively together and support each other.

Union members are also encouraged not to sign any documents or new contracts unless you are happy with them. You have the right to seek advice and representation before signing anything.

Your local HSU Organiser Kirk Rostock will be on site tomorrow to talk to members about the proposed changes.

If your colleagues are not yet HSU members, encourage them to join the union today. New members can join online at www.hsu.asn.au/join or by calling 1300 478 679.
