Changes at Afford Disability

This week, The Australian Foundation For Disability (Afford) has advised of an ongoing consolidation process. The consolidation process will consist of multiple services either combining, or moving to an alternate worksite if the current site is no longer fit for purpose. This consolidation will affect Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes, Community Centres/Day Programs and Respite/Short Term Accommodation.

Afford has advised the HSU that no redundancies or reduction in contracted hours are expected. They have also announced that the process will not take effect immediately and will be further discussed in coming weeks. Afford has also provided the HSU with this breakdown table:

Afford has told your HSU representatives that consultation will begin in the coming weeks and that staff will be able to submit worksite preferences if they have to move sites. This whole process is expected to take a few months and more information will be coming shortly, so make sure you stay up-to-date with HSU Newsletters.

If you require assistance or advice with a potential consultation meeting, please contact your HSU organiser Emmett Gray on 0499 919 355 or at [E-Mail not displayed] or the member services division at 1300 478 679.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
