Changes at Whiddon Catering: Know your rights!

Whiddon has notified HSU members of a major workplace change regarding the rosters in Catering (Kitchen and Servery) area at Whiddon Easton Park. At this stage we understand only the Easton Park facility is affected, but all members are encouraged to contact the union if you have any information about major workplace changes at your site.

The proposed changes may affect your shift times and shift patterns, your contracted hours, and may include potential redeployment into another business area or to other Whiddon facility.

Whiddon propose to publish their new roster by 7 November 2022, with the aim to commence from 21 November 2022.

It’s important that you know your rights during this consultation period. 

  1. Whiddon must consult with all affected staff members. That means:
    - Whiddon must provide in writing all relevant information about the change.
    - Whiddon must invite you to give your views about the proposed change.
    - Whiddon must consider any views about the impact of the change.
  2. HSU members have the right to be represented by the union. If your colleagues are not yet HSU members, encourage them to join the union so that they are represented.
  3. Do not sign anything you are not happy with. All HSU members are encouraged to seek advice before signing or agreeing to any changes.
