Estia bargaining update: Have your say on management’s proposals

Dear Member,

HSU members met with Estia last week as part of ongoing bargaining negotiations and management put two proposals on the table.

It’s vital HSU members consider the proposals and have their say.

Lifestyle Proposal

Management have proposed to rename the Lifestyle Support Officer role in the EA, to ‘Personal Care Worker- Wellbeing’. This is to align the EA to recent restructures Estia conducted last year. HSU members are concerned lifestyle workers are being incorrectly included in care minutes by being renamed to ‘personal care workers’.

Personal Care Assistant Proposal

Estia has also proposed aligning 16 ‘Personal Care Assistants’ with the bulk of the ‘nursing assistants’ that make up the rest of the workforce.  According to Estia, the 16 are a holdover from the company’s purchase of other aged care facilities. Management said that there will be no change to the role itself and there will be no disadvantage to any worker.

If you are affected by either of these proposed changes in the new Enterprise Agreement, complete this short survey.

Your HSU bargaining committee will be meeting with management on a fortnightly basis and will be providing regular updates as negotiations progress.
