Garden Village: Special HSU meeting next week re EBA bargaining

JOIN THE HSU MEETING WED 14 DEC – 11:30AM OR 6:30PM – DETAILS BELOW

Your HSU bargaining team have been negotiating with Garden Village for a new Enterprise Agreement, but sadly management have rejected multiple union claims and have given HSU members an alternative proposal to consider.

We want to hear your feedback on management’s response so far, and we want to know your thoughts on the counteroffer management has made to HSU members.

At this link you can view a document showing the status of our HSU claims and Garden Village’s responses so far.

There are two items in particular that we need your feedback on. They are:

1.    Medication Allowance

HSU members are seeking a medication allowance to be paid to staff who are required to undertake medication support/administration. Alternatively, we are seeking that staff be appointed to a higher grade to recognise this additional responsibility. Other organisations that have agreed to a medication allowance pay staff approximately $1 per hour for undertaking those duties.

Garden Village have stated that they are supportive in principle, but instead have offered lump sum payment of $200 per year to all Medication Competent staff on the renewal of the Medication Competency each year. What do you think of this proposal?

2.    Vehicle ‘wear and tear’ payment

Garden Village have also proposed an allowance of $150 per annum, paid to community support workers, to offset the wear and tear on their vehicle brought about by transporting clients. What do you think of this proposal?

Join our special zoom meeting on Wednesday to discuss this proposal:

Date: Wednesday 14 December 2022
Time: 11:30am OR 6:30pm
