HSU demands Heritage Care lifts wages further

Recently the Fair Work Commission approved your new enterprise agreement at Heritage Care. A copy of the enterprise agreement can be viewed at this link, and it will come into operation from 15 July 2022.

This new agreement has only been won because HSU members called for better pay and improved conditions at work. While this is a positive step, it’s still not enough.

Even with your new enterprise agreement, Heritage Care’s low rates of pay have already fallen below the minimum Award safety net. This is unacceptable.

The table below shows how much worse off Heritage Care employees are under the Heritage Care enterprise agreement, compared to the relevant Award rates.

Your Union has written to Heritage Care demanding that they lift the rates of pay to ensure compliance with the relevant Award.

If Heritage Care do not do this and pay staff below the Award rate, your Union will commence swift action in the Fair Work Commission to force Heritage Care to comply with the above rates. This is a legal requirement and if any HSU members are not being paid in accordance with these rates, contact your local HSU delegate to register an underpayment.

It has also been reported that Heritage Care has published incorrect and misleading information to staff, about the HSU’s role as a party to your enterprise agreement and our right to represent HSU members. The Health Services Union is you and your union colleagues – this is your agreement and therefore it will always be a union agreement. And if Heritage Care management don’t get that – the Health Services Union is clearly covered by the Heritage Care NSW Enterprise Agreement 2021, per clause 4 of that Agreement.

Heritage Care management would be wise to remember that this union agreement only came about because of HSU members leading the charge – and union members will always be represented by your union.

If you have any questions, please contact the HSU Member Services Division on 1300 478 679 for assistance. We will update members with more information about your pay rate as soon as we get agreement from Heritage Care that they will comply, or when we file dispute action in the Fair Work Commission.
