HSU members stood strong! HealthShare apologise for misconduct letters

On Tuesday the HSU become aware that members at Royal North Shore Hospital had received a Misconduct Letter for ‘abandoning their duties’ when attending the strike action last week.

These letters were absolutely outrageous – a blatant attempt to discourage members from participating in authorised industrial action.

An urgent meeting was called on-site for members to endorse immediate action in response to this attack on workplace rights. But before the action could even be endorsed the letters were rescinded and an apology was made for the mistake!

An HSU representative and local delegate met with management to hear firsthand how this mistake came about. Management said this was about timesheets – a ridiculous issue that in no way constitutes misconduct.

This is a massive win for union members and workplace rights!

If any members were nervous about taking action before, they should feel more confident than ever that this action is having an impact and that management knows they can’t take action against members.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
