HSU win at Dorothy Boyt House

Last year, HSU members at Dorothy Boyt House raised a dispute alleging that they had not been paid for the time taken to conduct RATs, before starting of their rostered shifts, between November 2021 to April 2022. Anglicare maintains employees were paid for this time.

In settling the dispute, Anglicare has agreed to provide all current permanent employees (i.e., those entitled to accrue annual leave) who worked at Dorothy Boyt House between November 2021 to April 2022, with one extra day of annual leave in good faith and in recognition of employees’ tireless dedication, hard work and commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can view the Memorandum of Understanding at this link.

I’d like to thank the HSU members who liaised with your HSU organiser and spoke to other staff in order to raise awareness of this issue. Standing up together as a union to fight for your workplace rights makes all the difference.

If you have any issues with the crediting of the additional day of leave, please follow up with your HSU organiser HyoJung Kim. She can be contacted on 0458 012 322, or via email [E-Mail not displayed].

We’re stronger when we all stand together. If you know someone at work who is not a HSU member, tell them to join online at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 HSU NSW and join over the phone.
