MQ Health pulls out of bargaining for Health Professionals

The HSU has received correspondence from MQ Health that the CEO has made the decision to pull out of bargaining for fair pay for Health Professionals.

This decision was made after the initial meeting with HR and the bargaining team. The HSU will now be running a Majority Support Determination campaign, which means seeking orders from the Fair Work Commission to commit MQ Health to bargain with their employees. It is unacceptable for members to be stuck on the legal minimum rates of pay while inflation rises to 3.5% and continues to increase.

Below is a table of what a radiographer can expect to earn per week at Macquarie University Hospital compared to a Public Hospital:

This pay progression disparity leads to higher staff turnover and financial stress for health professional members who have to contest with rising cost of living and huge HECS debts.

The HSU is calling on MQ Health to reverse this decision, honour their commitment to staff and commence bargaining NOW.

If you know someone who hasn’t yet joined the HSU, tell them to get on board now and strengthen our campaign. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
