PAC Drummoyne members stand up for their rights to consultation

Dear Member,

Members at Presbyterian Aged Care (PAC) Drummoyne stood together to raise concerns with management after the proposed new roster went live on 22 November without proper consultation.

At the site meeting on 27 November, members identified impacts to contracted hours and regular rosters/shifts.

Another meeting was organised with PAC management on 28 November 2023 to further discuss the impacts.

As a result of HSU members’ action, the following has been confirmed:

  • PAC admitted there was a major workplace change without a consultation and they were required to notify HSU
  • PAC do not have any record of the previous roster
  • The new roster will be reviewed based on the feedback from employees
  • PAC will enter into a consultation period and will organise a meeting with all affected employees
  • PAC will investigate other support by considering casual conversion and contract review through consultation.

As clarified at the meeting, changes to shift hours are clearly a major workplace change that requires consultation as per (cl. 31) in your Enterprise Agreement (EA).  During the process, members can be represented by the Union.

It was only due to HSU members coming together to fight back that this win was achieved.

Please make sure you contact your local organiser Hyojung Kim on 0458 012 322 or [E-Mail not displayed] before you schedule your meeting with HR.

Only HSU members can be represented and advised by the union.

Tell your workmates to join HSU. We are stronger when we stand together.
