St Charbel's: CCTV in staff room

St Charbel’s recently installed a CCTV camera in the staff room. Members raised this issue with the union and the HSU wrote to management to remind them of their obligations under the Workplace Surveillance Act 2005 (NSW)

The union also reminded St Charbel’s of their need to consult with staff prior to any workplace change, such as the installation of the camera.

Today, the HSU received a response from management to advise the following actions are to be taken:

  • Apology letter emailed and memo placed on staff room board.
  • A voting system to be provided for staff to decide whether they would like to keep or remove the camera and to sign their decision by 26 July 2023.
  • Email to management to ensure all staff are reminded of the above.

It is important for you to have your say. What do you think about management’s response? Please contact your Organiser Josie Peacock on 0419 264 060 or via email [E-Mail not displayed].
