SummitCare Smithfield: Major Workplace Change

SummitCare has notified the HSU of major workplace change at SummitCare Smithfield. Please see correspondence at this link.

HSU representatives attended a meeting with SummitCare regarding this change at SummitCare Smithfield on 11th of June 2021. SummitCare has advised that they will be reducing the number of residents in each room. This will directly impact the number of employees currently working at SummitCare Smithfield.

SummitCare has advised that most of the employees currently working at SummitCare Smithfield will transfer over to the Summit Care Baulkham Hills as they currently have some vacancies. They have also advised that employees can ask to transfer over to a more suitable location such as SummitCare Liverpool 173, SummitCare Canley Vale, SummitCare Randwick etc.

During this process you have right to be consulted with which includes one on one meetings before any changes are made to your contracted hours or the roster. SummitCare will be holding the one on one consultation meetings until 9th of July 2021. SummitCare has asked that you book an appointment with management to discuss the proposed change and how it will impact you.

SummitCare has stated that they are obligated to meet your contractual hours, whether it be at Smithfield or at another one of the SummitCare homes. If your contracted hours will be affected by the change, please contact your management and your Union to discuss the matter further.

It is important that HSU members understand that this is a proposed change. You have a right to raise issues with the change and the employer must reasonably consider the concerns prior to the implementation.

Any member with questions or concerns is encouraged to contact HSU on 1300 478 679 or email at [E-Mail not displayed].

If you know a colleague that is not yet an HSU member, encourage them to join today at www.hsu.asn.au/join or over the phone on 1300 478 679.

In unity,

Gerard Hayes
